Genetics: Family Pedigree Webinar

A genetics webinar training was held to provide information on how to take a family health history/pedigree on October 23, 2018.

The target audience for the presentation is nurses, physicians and other interested health professionals.

Participants must attend 100% of the webinar, complete the participant evaluation, including attestation of full participation during the webinar, and demonstrate knowledge of the clue word shared during the presentation to receive one (1.0) CNE contact hours. Description

Participants of the webinar will have an increased understanding about how to take an honest family history/pedigree. They will learn about additional resources for providers and patients.

Disclosures

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar:

  1. Participants will be able to list at least three benefits from gathering a detailed family history in medical practice.
  2. Participants will be able to recall up to 3 reasons (“red flags”) to refer a family for genetic testing/counseling.  
  3. Participants will be able to identify resources for genetic testing and genetic service providers.

Completion Criteria

Participants must attend 100% of the webinar, complete the participant evaluation including attestation of full participation during the webinar, and demonstrate knowledge of the clue word shared during the presentation to receive one (1.0) CNE contact hours.

Provider Statement

The Public Health Nursing and Professional Development Unit, North Carolina Division of Public Health, is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education, by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers’ Commission on Accreditation.
