The Classification and Compensation Unit administers classification and compensation for all positions in the Division of Public Health.
Areas of focus are:
Classification and Compensation also manages the Division’s compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) provisions, which outlines the Hours of Work and Overtime Compensation Policy
. This policy ensures that employees must be paid not less than the established minimum wage and provides guidelines on overtime compensation. Employees who are determined to be subject to the Hours of Work and Overtime Compensation Policy must be paid at a premium time and one-half rates or granted equal time off for hours worked in excess of 40 within a week.
